White Chocolate Raspberry Truffle & Cinnabon Cinnamon Swirl

Just being a sweet lil pink lil bunny rabbit at the Grove

Jamie’s birthday is one of the few friend birthdays I always remember and that’s because it’s on 4/20.

Jamie was one of the first friends I made when I moved to Los Angeles. We worked together at Magnolia Bakery. It was the same year she had her appendix taken out and I broke my tailbone at work. We used to climb up in the loft where they kept all the ingredients to eat lunch and gossip. She was my work sister. One year she made my mom a birthday cake and we drove it to Tempe. Jamie got upset because it slid around in the car but everyone loved it.

One of the most important things to know about Jamie is that she grew up in LA and she lived in the same neighborhood as Ryan Gosling and one day he rode by on his bike and said hi to her.

I have a lot of funny friends but sometimes I wonder if Jamie is the funniest. I think she might be. When I asked her why she’s so funny she said, “I was an ugly kid!”. She’s also a baker and she came to our cheesecake date with some serious knowledge. She told me she has a friend (another friend, other than me) who was a Dessert Plater for The Factory. And that friend told her that the word ‘frozen’ is not allowed, even though that’s how the cheesecakes are delivered each day. Instead, the employees are instructed to say ‘deeply chilled’. The cheesecakes, like me, are deeply chilled.

She also told me that the original TCF is in Beverly Hills (shout out to the Real Housewives there) and that they point it out to you on the TMZ tour which Jamie has been on.

It had been a while since we’d seen each other and Jamie hugged me for a long time. I held her tight and I told her, “you’re okay, you’re with me now, you’re safe.” Then I told her all about Karen and being in a new relationship; she told me she’s still hoping to marry a white man. When we went to The Factory, I told her we had to get two flavors of cheesecake because it’s May and I had only reviewed 6 so far. She picked White Chocolate Raspberry Truffle (her go-to at TCF) and Cinnabon Cinnamon Swirl. Now if Jamie has a go-to item somewhere, I’m going to go ahead and trust that item. She has really good taste in food. And brother, this was no exception.

I would probably never pick this on my own because of the White Chocolate. But Jamie likes White things (see above). I liked the simplicity of this one, it was mostly just creamy. And that crust! Oh mama that crust. I enjoyed myself here. As for the Cinnabon Cinnamon Swirl, this is a flavor I’ve actually had before. Last year. But that slice obviously can not count as part of this experiment.

This one, as you can see, was over the top. It had a layer of cinnamon cheesecake, a layer of “vanilla crunch cake”, cream cheese frosting, caramel, and some kind of crumblies on top. Decadent! Delicious! D-easy to eat! We ate all of both slices. No leftovers. The sugar rush was strong enough to take us to Sephora but I started crashing at Barnes & Noble. So much so that I decided to read Jessica Simpson’s memoir, Open Book. I didn’t buy it, I wasn’t that high. I rented it on my library app. Jamie told me she had an emotional affair with Johnny Knoxville and that’s what really sold me.

White Chocolate Raspberry Truffle: 4.4 out of 5

Cinnabon Cinnamon Swirl: 4.2 out of 5

  4. The Original

  5. Cinnabon Cinnamon Swirl

  6. Very Cherry Ghirardelli Chocolate

  7. Tiramisu

  8. Salted Caramel

8 down, 23 to go. I thought there were 33 flavors total, that’s what I’ve been saying. But I just went to the website to check again and there are only 31. I don’t know if they took some off the menu or what but either way I need to get my big ass in gear. Who’s comin’ with me next??

I should also mention that I had three additional cheesecakes this week. I have to be honest about that. My mom was in town and Karen made us two little Basque cheesecakes, one plain and one coffee flavored. We also had brunch with my bestie Fox and Karen made a gluten free version for her. Because she’s so full of love, knows how to make people feel cherished, and she’s talented and she’s hot and that’s why I had 5 cheesecakes this week.

This is Fox. I don’t know if she’s gonna make it onto the blog outside of this because she has a gluten allergy and can’t eat at TCF. A lot of my friends fall into this category and it’s actually really sad that they can’t be part of this experiment with me. I’ve thought about it a lot and tried to come up with work arounds but I’m at a loss. Maybe they can come with me and just eat something else? TCF sells the strawberries they put on top of their strawberry cheesecake by the bowlful. A gluten free person could eat a bowl of strawberries.

Wait, also, check out that perfectly broiled Basque burn on top. SO GOOD. The consistency was perfect. The coffee flavored one (not pictured) is amazing too. The Factory doesn’t even have a coffee cheesecake (the Tiramisu is the closest) but they do have a Basque which is only available until the end of July which I’m trying not to stress about. In conclusion, Karen is the best.

I’m off to eat a macaron and go to bed. Goodnight you princes of Maine, you kings of New England.
