No Cheesecake
One of my 2022 cheesecake experiences: my birthday at Taylor’s Steak House
Hello, welcome. I'm Chelsea and one of my 2023 resolutions is to try every flavor of cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory.
You might be wondering how I got here. I'm wondering that myself. Here's what I know so far. In 2022, I was getting a lot of questions about what my favorite cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory was. I never quite knew how to answer. I usually said "dulce de leche but I'm open". I started to feel like a fraud. I claim to love cheesecake. I say it's my favorite dessert. It's my birthday tradition to have a slice. I brag about the 'grilled cheesecake' I used to make (a combo of cheddar and cream cheese that I serve with mustard and avocado). I needed a better answer for people. I needed a better answer for myself. It's like the first time I traveled overseas, I visited the Grand Canyon before I left because I knew when I told Europeans I was from Arizona they'd ask me about it and I needed to have something to say. Something more than "I haven't been since I was six".
So far, everyone has been really supportive of me trying every flavor of cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory in one year. My friend Mark told me I should write about it. He had a semi-negative reaction when I told him, I think because he thinks I already eat too much sugar. He also probably thinks resolutions should be more serious than this. But I'm taking this seriously, Mark. I hope by writing this blog, he can get fully on board because I really care about him and I don't want to lose his friendship.
Here are more things I know: there are 33 flavors of cheesecake at The Cheesecake Factory. Less than I thought! There are 52 weeks in a year so I don't have to go once a week but I do have to go pretty often. Most slices are $9.95, some are $10.50. That'll be around $400 worth of cheesecake. There may be seasonal flavors I have to try too, who knows. There are 2 The Cheesecake Factories near me; one is at The Grove and one is at The Americana. I already go to The Grove every Tuesday with my friend Beth because movies at AMC are only $5 on Tuesdays so this will be one easy way to get a slice in.
I also have a date this Wednesday with a woman I'm talking to on Hinge. I told her about my resolution and she wants to get a slice with me. So I'm starting off strongly with two slices in two days during the second week of January.
I'm also starting pretty clean. The only cheesecake I've had so far in 2023 is the caramel cheesecake bites from Del Taco. They're like eggrolls but with caramel and cheesecake inside. I hope this won't taint my journey or my documentation in any way.
My other resolution is to write more often for fun. That's why I'm taking Mark's advice. My rule for cheesecake is going to be that if I'm with someone, they get to choose the flavor and my rule for this blog is that I need to have fun doing it. Other than that, there are no rules, brother. Buckle up.
The other thing that feels important to mention is that my phone autocorrects the word cheesecake to cheeecake. This may come up again during my journey. One more thing I'm considering is that typing out The Cheesecake Factory a lot could get taxing so I may shorten it to TCF. I'll let you know. Oh, and I'm currently watching Real Housewives of New Jersey from the beginning, I'm on season 4, and that's a big influence on me right now. It's bound to come up.
I suppose that's it for now. My grandma is supposed to die today so I'm going to end here.
